Revelation 16:18: And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

When the seventh angel pours out the last Vial Plague on the earth in Revelation 16:17, the Father will say: "It is done."¹ These words commence rather than conclude the seventh and final Vial Plague. The words of the Father direct Christ to execute the final judgments of the seventh Vial Plague which will continue until the last culminating act when Satan is bound in the bottomless pit in Revelation 20:1-3.²

The voices in Revelation 16:18 joyfully acknowledge that the Father's work is done.³ These voices are from the 144,000 Servants that John mentions in Revelation 11:15⁴ and again in Revelation 14:2-3.⁵ Their number will be so great that their joyful voices will symbolically sound like thunders and lightnings.⁶ However, thunders and lightnings also describe physical events that will literally accompany the great earthquake mentioned in this verse.⁷

The seventh Vial Plague will begin with a great earthquake⁸ that prophets have long predicted.⁹ This great earthquake is the third earthquake identified by John in the Book of Revelation. The first earthquake identified by John will occur at the end of the sixth seal in Revelation 6:12.¹⁰ The second earthquake will occur when the Second Woe ends with the death and resurrection of the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11:13,¹¹ which John also mentions in Revelation 11:19.¹² The third earthquake will occur when Christ steps foot on the mount of Olives in Jerusalem at his Second Coming.¹³ This third earthquake will be the most powerful earthquake since men were upon the earth.¹⁴ It will completely change the topography in Jerusalem¹⁵ and reunite the eastern and western hemispheres into a single landmass as they were before the flood in the days of Noah.¹⁶
