[§295] Rev 18:1-3: The Spiritual Fall of the Great Whore [Modern Babylon]

This podcast explains the imagery and symbolism used by John in Revelation 18:1-3, which state: “AND after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”   The other angel in Revelation 18:1 is Jesus Christ, who appears at the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman to be coronated King of kings and Lord of lords. A similar description of Christ is found in Revelation 10:3. Revelation 10:3 describes the rise of Christ’s power on earth, while Revelation 18:1 describes the corresponding loss of Satan’s power, saying: “Babylon is fallen, is fallen.” Babylon falls spiritually at the time the saints gather to Adam-ondi-Ahman, 3½ years before the Second Coming. The physical fall of Babylon will occur at the Second Coming, which John records in in subsequent verses in Revelation 18.   When Modern Babylon falls spiritually, the world will become the habitation of devils. This means the earth will become a spiritually desolate place for all unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition who have their influence on earth. This earth will become a hold (a place of detention like a holding cell) for these foul spirits, and a cage for these metaphorically unclean and hateful birds. When Babylon falls spiritually, these evil spirits and devils will no longer have their customary freedom to influence people on earth to commit evil. However, they will not be removed from the earth until Modern Babylon falls physically during the seventh vial plague of the Third Woe. John describes their removal in Revelation 19:20 for disembodied spirit sons of perdition and in Revelation 20:1-3 for unembodied spirit sons of perdition.   Revelation 18:3 describes  three reasons why Modern Babylon will fall both spiritually and physically. First, Modern Babylon will fall because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of fornication supplied by the Great Whore of false religion. Second, the kings of the earth have committed spiritual fornication with her, which means they have forsaken Jesus Christ to worship modern idols including riches, fame, and immoral acts of self-indulgence.
