[§267] Rev 16:13: Three Unclean Spirits Like Frogs

This podcast explains the imagery used by John in Revelation 16:13 to describe the spiritual cleansing of the earth that will begin with Spiritual Armageddon during the sixth Vial Plague of the Third Woe. In this verse, John saw “three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.”   The unclean spirits like frogs symbolize the many myriads of unembodied and disembodied spirit sons of perdition who have their unseen influence and power on the earth. This imagery comes from the plague of frogs in ancient Egypt. In the days of Moses, frogs were worshipped and the Egyptian goddess Heqet had the form of a woman with a frog head. From her nostrils came life and immortality. Nevertheless, Moses caused a plague of frogs in Egypt and God showed his power over these false gods of the Egyptians when all the frogs died and left a great stench in the nostrils of all the people.   In John’s vision, three types of unclean spirits symbolically come out of the mouth (nostrils) of the Dragon, the Beast, and the False Prophet. The Dragon represents Satan. He is the spiritual head of the first class of unclean spirits, which are the unembodied spirit sons of perdition that have followed him since the premortal existence. The Beast represents Cain‒the Son of Adam who killed his brother Abel. The disembodied spirit of Cain is the spiritual head of all disembodied spirit sons of perdition who died as mortal sons of perdition from the time of Adam until the gospel was restored in 1830. The False Prophet represents Judas Iscariot, who betrayed the Savior and became the type for all traitors to the truth.
