Revelation 14: A Mirror Opposite of Revelation 13
From the Mark of the Beast to the Marriage of the Lamb

Welcome to Revelation 14
Revelation 13 ends with the horrors of the Second Beast on earth during the Great Tribulation—the last 3½ years before the Second Coming—when he will control the world’s economy.
The Second Beast will also kill people who fail to receive his name and number (666) in their hand or forehead by worshiping the worldly ideals of Modern Babylon. (Rev 13:15–18)
GOOD NEWS!
We can all breathe a sigh of relief because John’s vision now continues in Revelation 14, where he describes conditions in heaven that are exactly opposite the conditions on earth in the same period.
The two visions are the flipside of the same coin.
Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll discover as you read and study the three visions of John in Revelation 14.
Three Visions in Revelation 14
Revelation 14:1–5
John’s first vision describes 144,000 exaltation-worthy saints who stand with Christ on heavenly Mount Zion as His future bride.
More on this in a moment.
Revelation 14:6–11
John’s second vision describes the first three of seven angels, who make proclamations about events that will be fulfilled as preconditions to the destructive plagues of the Third Woe that begin in Revelation 16.
The first angel proclaims that the everlasting gospel has been preached in all the world. (Rev 14:6–7)
The second angel proclaims the spiritual fall of Babylon, coinciding with the gathering of saints at Adam-ondi-Ahman. (Rev 14:8)
The third angel proclaims judgments on those who have the mark of the Second Beast. (Rev 14:9–11)
Revelation 14:14–20
John’s third vision describes the harvest at the end of the Second Woe.
The fourth and fifth angels harvest exaltation-worthy saints (the 144,000 Servants) who are taken to heaven on Mount Zion.
The sixth and seventh angels harvest the sons of perdition, crushed like grapes as Christ alone treads the winepress.

The Bride of Christ (144,000 Servants)
In Revelation 14:1, John writes:
“I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.”
In this verse we go:
from Chapter 13 to Chapter 14
from extreme wickedness on earth to extreme blessedness in heaven
from the Second Beast (666)
to exaltation-worthy saints (144,000)
from the mark of the beast in the forehead
to the name of God in the forehead
Joseph Seiss explains:
“The account of the 144,000 is really only another side of what is related of the Beasts, the counterpart of the same history.”
(The Apocalypse, Lectures on the Book of Revelation, 350)
John introduced the 144,000 Servants in Revelation 7:4–8, where these exaltation-worthy saints were sealed during the sixth seal (today).
We are part of that sealing process as we attend the temple, where people from all ages vicariously receive their exalting ordinances that qualify them to stand with Christ on Mount Zion.
This vision is a message of hope for saints who endure tribulation through the end of the Second Woe and then escape the final plagues of the Third Woe because they are in heaven on Mount Zion.
The Marriage of the Lamb
The Lamb in Revelation 14:1 is Christ.
He stands on Mount Zion to symbolize His forthcoming victory over the Second Beast at the Second Coming.
The 144,000 stand with Him because:
He is the Bridegroom
They are His Bride
It is the metaphorical marriage of the Lamb in heaven, including the bride’s elevation to godhood and membership in the Church of the Firstborn.
